Tucson Parks & Gardens
This desert park offers camping, hiking, picnicking, bicycling, horseback riding, plant and wildlife viewing, and an archaeological site, all just a few minutes from Tucson. Catalina State Park is located within Coronado National Forest, and is managed by Arizona State Parks in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service. The park encompasses 5,493 acres at elevations near 3,000 feet.
Named after the famous saguaro cactus, this park features giant caguaro cacti that reach up to 50 feet. The valley of the park, situated between the Rincon and West Tucson mountains, literally offers a cacti forest along with other indigenous species of shrubs, trees unique to the desert and, of course, wildlife. Located just a short drive from Tucson.
The Tucson Botanical Gardens seek to promote environmental stewardship, ecological education and horticultural education. An oasis in the midst of Tucson, it provides a tranquil relaxing setting for people of all ages.
The International Wildlife Museum at Tucson features hands on exhibits, interactive exhibits and a theatre. All of the animals in the collections were donated by various organisations or individuals-some are more than 100 years old.
A fascinating underground cave and reputed to the one of the largest dry underground caverns,with an equally fascinating history. Located just 12 miles south of the Saguaro National Monument and just a short drive outside of Tucson.
